One thing I love about many of Oregon’s beaches is that there’s this little hill, right before the sand starts. It’s where you can taste the salt on the air, and depending on the wind, the sting of blown sand on your skin. It’s the last little bit going up, the approaching sound of waves, the opening up of the sky.
