I didn’t realize the degree to which this hike intended to be the last day of summer; the occasional leaf turning color was, apparently, a hint, but just a couple days later, fall weather arrived with a bang. (Or, rather, a susurrus of rain.)
On the day, though, it was a lovely summer walk in the woods, following the river to see what we could see.
