“Krakow II,” or, “this time, with more church”

I promised myself I’d have something happier to follow up my last post, and I also promised you, dear reader, that I’d eventually talk about the big fancy church in the Krakow town square.
Today, it is time to deliver on those promises.
I’m actually getting slightly out of order, because what I’m writing about here happened after the events of my next post, but the next one is also very long, so I’m taking a bit of a break from the long posts to have something short and sweet.

So, like I’ve said, the church. It’s the high point of Krakow’s town square, and you know me, I get way more excited about a good church than I do about boring old castles.¹

Once you get into the church proper, it’s all quite beautiful.

and a beautiful altar under an even more beautiful vaulted ceiling. Seriously, how can you not love beautiful architecture like this?

Other than the church, our afternoon was our own, and we spent it wandering around and enjoying the beautiful fall day.

We also found a fountain somewhere. At least, I’m assuming it was a fountain – it had quite a few things that looked like they could fire water places, at least.

On the way back through the town square, we spotted this big statue and absolutely had to get some pictures.
All in all, I can definitely recommend Krakow as a tourist destination.
